Great solution when hard disk space is running out  |
Having purchased my PC about a year ago, I had got to the point where I had almost filled my 160GB on the two disks (120GB/40GB). The problem was that I was suffering from a downgrade of performance, and couldnt defrag without deleting or saving the files externally. As I am in the midst of ripping my entire CD collection (35GB and counting), I needed to get some files off.This little beauty solved the problem at a stroke. Cheaper than DVD+RW per GB, I was able to back up my machine as it stood, and still had half the disk left! Having backed up a couple of very large video files (20GB each approx, though you need to format to NTFS first), I then ran them off the external drive and the performance was fine. Even when I dropped the drive onto the hard floor, it still worked! Easy to set up, and good to look at as well! I suspect I will be back for another in a years time.

Space and a lot of buffer |

A hard disk is a hard disk? Right? No, wrong, some hard disks are loud, and often not as fast. Maxtor have come up with a very spaceous hard disk drive with pleanty of buffer (8MB) and one touch technology which will backup everything youve asked it to do. This is quite a good feature of such a large hard disk - and if you have a small hard disk in your PC or Mac, having this will give you a lot of storage. So if you have made DV films of your family, travel, or just footage youve captured, keeping it stored safe is no issue. Maxtor have done well here, its a speedy drive with a good buffer, which will make running apps of this thing like a walk in the park. If you have a lot of data, I suggest you get one of these, as itll make life much easier. Also you can backup your network server and put this in a safe, making it a perfect solution to backup. At £250, this is £1 / GB, which is excellent value. Connectivity through USB2 and FireWire make this a speedy drive. Go get yours now.

How can something so dull as media-storage look so damn sexy and beautiful?! These Minidiscs are a delight to see and touch, on top of that they ooze quality and can be re-recorded on many times without noticeable loss in quality. As a NetMD Addict I have found that I delete and move and re-record tracks onto a disc many more times than I would with a traditional MD and these discs cope with my indecisiveness wonderfully. Excellent - buy them.
